An Adventurer's Dream

“On Behalf of the Moon…”

“…I will right wrongs and triumph over evil, and that means you!”

Let the triumphing commence with this gorgeous new palette that I just discovered (courtesies of Popsugar Beauty).

As you can see from their picture, this fun new makeup comes in a true blue Sailor Moon Prism Compact – and I am just dying to get my hands on it! The compact isn’t available until March, but what other way is there to take on the world than in magical girl makeup?

The answer is none.

This compact is being sold by Creer Beaute and they also have other fun pieces in a Sailor Moon theme – eye makeup, powers, blushes, etc.

I’m a little upset I didn’t know about this line (Miracle Romance) any sooner. Maybe I’ll be seeing this compact sometime soon in my future.

What are your thoughts, dear readers? Interested to try out this palette or maybe just have it for your collection?

4-2-4 Cleansing Method

I kept reading about double cleansing and the 4-2-4 method, so I decided I’d give it a shot. I’ve been double cleansing for months and I’ve found it pretty effective. My skin looks a lot better than it used to (sorry, no pics!).

I started the 4-2-4 method about two and a half weeks ago. Basically, you massage your face with an oil for 4 minutes, lather soap on top of that for 2 minutes, and then rinse for another 4 minutes. Air dry after. Simple, right?

Originally I was using coconut oil for the first step, but I switched over to Lancôme’s cream-to-oil cleanser when I went home for the holidays. I used this with their cream-to-foam cleanser for step 2.

It took a few days until I really seeing the effects and then I really saw them. My face broke out pretty bad around my mouth, chin, and nose. At this point, I was starting to feel like I was wasting too much water with step 3, so I switched it up and did the following: rinsed face with water for about a minute or so until the soap was gone, iced my face with an ice cube until it melted, and then air dried.

Honestly, it takes about as long to ice my face as it did to wash off the soap/oil, so I feel like it isn’t much of a difference since my skin is constantly wet with either method. I like icing, though, because it helps reduce inflammations and makes my skin glowy afterward.

My skin started looking a bit better around the holidays (just a little over a week in), but didn’t really look better until the beginning of this week. Of course, I also have been slacking the past couple of days, so I unfortunately have some new breakouts.

However, I would give this cleansing method a thumbs up. I feel like it actually worked to get some of the dirt out of my pores. I will definitely keep trying this and see the effects of sticking with it for a longer amount of time. I’m hoping that means smaller pores and clearer skin in my future.

Have you tried the 4-2-4 cleansing method before? Any other methods you like and want to share? Comment below!

People Will Stare

people will strae.jpg

I posted this quote on my Instagram earlier this week and I just wanted to give it some extra attention just because it speaks to me so much. I feel that it holds truth no matter where you are at – school, business, fashion, book club, etc.

People are going to stare. Maybe not stare in the literal sense. But they will look at you and they will judge you.

Daunting words, I know, but unfortunately this is the way that our world has become.

Are you kind enough? Bold enough? Wearing nice clothes? A leader? Do you fit the societal standards that have been placed upon all of us?

There are several ways to respond to this. You can either relinquish a piece of yourself or you can be unabashed, stand tall, and make it worth their while.

If someone is going to stare, give them a reason to. Be proud of who you are. Show off your fun style, your confident and unique personality, and just be you. You are beautiful and the world deserves to know that.

So, dear readers, what I want you to take away from my blog post today is this: Go out into the world and show them all what makes you so great. And when the end of the day comes and they’re still staring, ask them this – Like what you see?

White House | Black Market

Let’s talk about this.

I’m addicted. Seriously.

I can’t say that half of my clothes are White House | Black Market, as I have too many clothes for one single brand to constitute a majority of it, but I can say that all my important work clothes are definitely WHBM.

First Day of Work; I honestly feel like a model every time I wear this skirt. It’s just perfect!

I mean, how can one not be obsessed with something that is professional, fashionable, and absolutely gorgeous?

White House | Black Market is captivating in its chic and flawless pieces. Their clothing provides a sense of empowerment, something that every woman – and man – should feel when they dress for work.

(As a side note, though, you should feel empowered wearing whatever you want and whatever style screams you. That is what dressing is all about. Expressing your inner self and showing the world how amazing you are.)

I wore this to my first orientation at the school. A great first impression for the incoming students.

I fully recommend checking out this brand if you want some extra-nice clothes for work (or even just to wear whenever you want!). They may be a little pricey but they fit the bill – their clothes have personality while allowing you to show your inner lioness to the world.

My newest outfit – and one of my favorites.

Now we can move past this. For now.

You can visit their website here, if you want to peek at their selection. They have some great sales, just saying!

What do you think, my lovely readers? Yes or no? Advice on fashionable office wear that you are addicted to?

My Edible Face: Honey Oatmeal Mask

Oatmeal MaskAs you can see in this picture, I am properly horrified with what I have put on my face. It’s a basic recipe I found online: oatmeal, honey, and water. I had my roommate try this with me (more like forced, but she owed me from a castor oil hair treatment we tried… talk about sticky!).

After the initial strangeness and oatmeal rain from excessive spoonfuls splattered on my face, it wasn’t that bad. The smell itself was spectacular.

We waited about 15 minutes before washing the oatmeal off. You’re supposed to use circular motions in rinsing it off to exfoliate the skin, but I gave up after I realized I needed to actually work on scrubbing the oatmeal off of my face.

Once off, I couldn’t help but notice how rejuvenated my skin felt (and still feels). I’ve been using honey as a face mask for a few months now, but my skin just feels so clean and nice. With this super smooth finish, I can say I am fully satisfied with this beauty adventure.

After Oatmeal Mask

I can’t stop touching my face and feeling how smooth it is. I think I’ll definitely be trying this again – though next time I’ll make sure to grind the oatmeal into a powder. Hopefully there will be no oatmeal rain.

Let me know if you try this mask out and your results! I’d love to hear how it works for you and if you have any other masks that have done well. I’m willing to try out (almost) anything!

Face Masks

I honestly cannot say anything bad about facial masks. This summer, I went on a crazy trip to take better care of my skin and have been focusing on my face a lot. Sure, there are still some pimples and acne, but overall I’ve seen some great improvement.

What face masks have I been using?

I’ve been using the Lancoôme mask called Pure Empreinte Masque (white clay) religiously – almost every other night sometimes. I recently got the Lancôme Hydra-Intense Masque, which has been amazing as well.

However, Walmart has some fantastic face masks. I particularly adore the Freeman cleansing Charcoal and Brown Sugar mask. It really clears up my skin. I’m also addicted to their Honeydew and Chamomile Facial Sleeping Mask. It’s fantastic and usually lasts several days for me.

Of course, it is important to make sure you are cleaning your face properly as well. There’s no improvement if you aren’t getting all the grime and make-up off of your beautiful face.

I don’t have any pictures to show my skin at the moment, nor do I want to take one right now, so you’ll just have to trust me on this! Facial masks are absolutely splendid and I think it’s definitely worth the try if you are up to it.

So, dear readers, any beauty tips you’d like to share with the rest of us? I’m dying to learn more about facial care or any other wisdom you have!
